(NEWS UPDATE USA FAST)--  At least four people were killed and more than a dozen injured in a shooting Saturday night in Birmingham, Ala. The shooting unfolded in a crowded entertainment district and law enforcement officials were aggressively seeking suspects Sunday.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of HPD said two men and a woman died at the scene, and the fourth victim died shortly afterward at an area hospital. Some of the injured were transported to hospitals by paramedics while others went on their own for medical attention.

It was a horrific deadly mass shooting, where, according to Fitzgerald, multiple shooters fired into the crowd, though it remained hazy whether on foot or in vehicles. It does not seem to be a random shooting, and detectives are trying to find out who the intended target was. As of this moment, no suspect is in custody.

"Rest assured, we leave no stone unturned, do all in our power to identify and hunt down those that would prey on our community," Fitzgerald said.

He asks that anyone who was in the Five Points South area at the time of the shooting come forward with any information. He says tips leading to an arrest may be worth as much as $5,000. "The public is our greatest resource," Fitzgerald insisted. "If you were here, if you saw or heard something, please contact police."

Police also confirmed that both the ATF and FBI have been brought in to aid in the investigation.

"These mass shootings are more a reflection of cultural issues than simple criminality," Fitzgerald added. "We are witnessing far too many conflicts being resolved through gunfire."
