Colin Gray, the father of the suspect charged with the murder of four people at Apalachee High School, has requested a judge to grant him separation from other inmates while in custody.

The father of a teenage boy accused of killing four people at a Georgia high school asked a judge on Wednesday for protection from other inmates because of the "incalculable number of threats" he has received while in custody.

Colin Gray, 38, was jailed without bond, accused of second-degree murder and manslaughter, for permitting his son, Colt Gray, 16, access to the weapon used in the fatal incident last week at Apalachee High School in Winder, on east Atlanta.
Gray's lawyers, Jimmy Berry and Brian Hobbs, motioned that he be held in isolation from other Barrow County Sheriff's Office inmates.

According to the defense lawyers, extensive news coverage and social media discussion surrounding the case have resulted in an "incalculable number of threats against the Defendant" from inmates, with some "calling for harm and violence to befall the Defendant, and in certain instances, even demanding the Defendant's death."
They added that last week's shooting has had a profound impact on nearly everyone in Winder and the broader Barrow County community.
